There are breakfast sandwiches… and then there’s the breakfast sandwich from Little Ruby’s Café in Soho. This was the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had, honestly. Little Ruby’s already has that effortlessly cool vibe — the kind of place where everyone looks like they just stepped out of a Pinterest board, complete with plants and greenery— but the food is what really seals the deal.
This breakfast sandwich is officially one of my New York favorites. It’s flavorful without being overwhelming, creative without being weird, and satisfying without making you feel like you need a nap afterward. If you’re in Soho and want something that tastes like a morning victory, this is the place.
First Impressions
The sandwich arrives stacked, golden, and honestly kind of gorgeous. It’s the type of breakfast that makes you pause for a second before taking a bite because you know it’s about to change your morning. The potato bun is shiny and soft, like it’s been waiting its whole life to hold something this good.
Flavor & Texture
There is no way to describe this sandwich without talking about each flavor ...
Spicy pork sausage: Bold, savory, and just spicy enough to wake you up without making you regret your life choices.
Fontina: Melty, buttery, and basically the glue holding the universe (and this sandwich) together.
Scrambled egg: Soft and fluffy — not dry, not rubbery, just perfect.
Chili jam: Sweet heat that sneaks up on you in the best way.
Parmesan: Adds that salty, nutty kick that makes everything taste fancier.
Pea leaves: A fresh, slightly sweet crunch that balances all the richness.
Lemon aioli: Bright, creamy, and the secret ingredient that ties everything together.
Every bite is this perfect mix of spicy, creamy, tangy, and fresh. It’s like the sandwich version of a well‑balanced playlist — every element hits at the right moment.
The Vibe
Little Ruby’s in Soho has that classic Australian‑in‑NYC energy: relaxed but stylish, friendly but cool. It’s the kind of place where you want to sit for a while, sip something iced, and pretend you’re a local who brunches here every weekend. It gives you a laid back beach/boho vibe without the beach. The staff is super nice, the atmosphere is bright and lively, and the whole experience feels like a little pocket of calm in the middle of downtown chaos.
