Walking into Sushi Samba during its first week in West Hollywood felt like stepping into a place that already knew it was going to be the spot. The energy was loud in a good way—neon reflections bouncing off polished wood, a DJ set that somehow made everyone walk with a little more confidence, and a crowd that looked like they’d been waiting for this opening since forever. It’s trendy, but not in a try‑hard way. More like: “Yeah, we know we’re cool, but come hang out anyway.”
The restaurant blends Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian influences, and the space mirrors that mix. Warm lighting, tropical touches, and sleek modern lines make it feel like a place where cultures meet and decide to throw a party. The open, retractable roof allowed you to dine under the stars, and the huge "umbrellas" gave it a modern, cool but tropical feel. The space was amazing.
We tried a few dishes, and honestly, they were the highlight of the night. But, everything we tasted was amazing, you can't go wrong.
Mushroom Arroz Chaufa
This was the star. Like, I’m still thinking about it. The rice was smoky and savory, with mushrooms that tasted almost meaty. Every bite had this deep umami flavor that made it feel way more special than “fried rice.” It’s the kind of dish you keep eating even when you’re full because stopping feels like a bad decision.
Brazilian Cheese Bread – Pão de Queijo
These came out warm, with that perfect chewy‑airy texture inside. They’re simple but addictive, and they fit the restaurant’s whole fusion vibe perfectly. If comfort food could be fancy, this would be it.
Spicy Tuna Roll – Samba Spicy Tuna
This roll had a clean heat—not the kind that burns your mouth, but the kind that wakes up all the flavors. The tuna tasted super fresh, and the sauce had just enough kick to make it interesting without overpowering anything. It’s a solid choice if you like spice but don’t want to sweat through dinner.
Sushi Samba feels like a place that’s going to get even more popular really fast. The atmosphere is fun and stylish, the concept is unique without being confusing, and the food—especially that Mushroom Arroz Chaufa—is worth coming back for. It’s the kind of restaurant that makes you feel like you’re part of something new happening in West Hollywood. If this is just their first week, I can’t imagine how good it’ll be once they settle in.
