Overview
There’s something about eating outside that makes even the simplest meal feel like a mini celebration. This burger platter is exactly that vibe — super relaxed, colorful, and perfect for warm evenings when you want dinner to feel fun but not fussy. I used classic burger patties, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and the best pickles from the farmer’s market. To make it feel a little more special (and honestly, a little more indulgent), I added Alexia Waffle Cut fries on the side. Everything comes together in a way that feels like a backyard picnic you’d see in a magazine, but it’s actually really easy to pull off. It’s the kind of meal that makes you want to stay outside a little longer, talking and laughing while the sun goes down.
Ingredients
Burger patties (4, or however many you need)
Lettuce leaves (romaine or butter lettuce work great)
2–3 tomatoes, sliced
Pickles from the farmer’s market (the crunchier the better)
Alexia Waffle Cut fries (1 bag)
Gluten free burger buns of your choice, we love Schar Hamburger Buns
Salt and pepper, to season
Optional toppings: cheese slices, ketchup, mustard, mayo, grilled onions
Directions
Prep your grill or stovetop pan: Heat it to medium‑high so the patties get a good sear.
Season the patties: Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper. If you’re adding cheese, keep it nearby for later.
Cook the patties: Grill or pan‑sear the burgers until they reach your preferred doneness. Add cheese during the last minute so it melts perfectly.
Bake the sweet potato fries: Follow the instructions on the Trader Joe’s bag — they get extra crispy if you spread them out on the tray.
Prep the veggies: While everything cooks, wash and dry the lettuce, slice the tomatoes, and set out the farmer’s market pickles.
Toast the buns (optional but worth it): A quick toast on the grill or in a pan makes them warm and slightly crisp.
Assemble the platter: Arrange the cooked patties, buns, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and sweet potato fries on a big board or tray. It looks beautiful and lets everyone build their own burger.
Serve outside: Enjoy the warm air, the crunchy fries, and the perfect mix of fresh and savory flavors.
